Enjoy & share them.

Meet Eclipse

    • This is Eclipse. She’s an adorable black Lab and Mastiff mix and every day she leaves her house in Seattle, by herself, and takes the bus downtown to the dog park where she spends a couple of hours getting exercise and making friends, and then she takes the bus back home again.
    • It began when her owner Jeff, was taking too long to join her and  when the bus arrived, she ran ahead and got on the bus by herself. The bus driver recognized her and dropped her off at the dog park (she knew which stop it was), and later Jeff would catch up with her. After a few more solo trips, Jeff realized that Eclipse was more than capable of making the trip without him, so he decided to let her – adorably fixing a bus ticket to her collar every morning, knowing full-well that she’d be back a few hours later.

    • The bus drivers know her and the passengers enjoy seeing her every day and will often sit down next to her. Even the Police have approved as long as the bus drivers are okay with this arrangement. She just makes everybody happy.

Ice Skating Canine

  • Benny is a eight-year-old yellow lab who donned a blue vest and holding a hockey stick in his mouth as he glided around the ice at Wollman Skating Rink in New York City on his front two legs. His back legs did most of the pushing. It was a sight to behold.
  • The furry Las Vegas resident was making his NYC debut recently on one of the most iconic ice rinks in the world—a dream he (or rather his owners have) had since he began ice skating three years ago. His trip to the Big Apple is part of his tour to raise awareness for the Vision for Animals Foundation, which aims to improve the quality of life of animals by advancing eye health through science and education.

  • In his career on ice, Benny is no stranger to big ice rinks. He has skated for the National Hockey League’s Vegas Golden Knights as well as at the U.S. Skating Championships. But that’s not all he can do—Benny can perform over 100 tricks, including riding on a skateboard. “It wasn’t that surprising [when he started to ice skate],” his owner said Benny simply started to follow her on the ice when she would go skating and soon enough, he got his own customized skates, which are just dog booties and tiny blades tied together with shoelaces.

  • Benny is quite a miracle child in his own right. He was rescued from a kill shelter in Salt Lake City one day before his scheduled euthanization. Since then, he’s been making the very most of his doggy life. You can follow along on his Instagram account, @vegaskingbenny

A Cologne For Dogs? From Queen Elizabeth?

Seriously? Yes!

  • Over the years, the media has highlighted how fond Queen Elizabeth is of animals particularly her own dogs Corgis and Dorgis (a mix of Corgi and Dachshund). Her Majesty has owned at least one Pembroke Welsh corgi at any given time between 1933 and 2018. She’s owned an estimated 30 of the dogs over her long life.

  • Queen Elizabeth II has reversed course on a years-long, self-imposed ban on new royal dogs, welcoming another furry friend into the Royal home. In a surprising move, however, the Queen—most famously associated with corgis and dorgis—has picked a cocker spaniel as her newest best friend. The 4-year-old cocker is listed under the pedigree name Wolferton Drama, but to Her Majesty, the little dog is known simply as Lissy, which is a diminutive version of Elizabeth. Not only is Lissy a rarity for the Queen due to her breed, but on Jan. 4 the red-and-white pup was crowned winner at the Kennel Club Cocker Spaniel Championship, giving the Queen her first champion.

A dog cologne?

Apparently for many years, the Royal Family has marketed specialty items that are available from the gift shops at the various Royal Estates. New this year is the Happy Hounds Dog Cologne which will join an already popular gift set for dog lovers sold by the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, UK.

  • It’s described as “unisex,” which smells of “coastal walks,” is described as “a rich, musky scent with citrus notes of bergamot” – and retails for £9.99 ($13.53) and may at some point be available online.
    • The label on the 200ml bottles says: “Inspired by a shared passion for protecting our environment, we have collaborated with Norfolk Natural Living to create our Dog Cologne just 10 miles from the estate, using the finest botanical ingredients.”  After washing their pets, owners should spritz “a generous amount” into the palm of their hands, and massage into their dog’s coat. It is not known whether the Queen’s dogs wear cologne.
  • Last year, in honor of Queen Elizabeth‘s Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years on the throne, the monarch released a sparkling wine. The blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier is made exclusively from fruit grown and hand-picked in vineyards in Kent and West Sussex. Both the Queen’s Sandringham estate and Buckingham Palace have their own gins. They also have honey gathered from beehives on the heather-rich moorland of the Queen’s Balmoral Estate in Scotland, where the royal family like to spend their summer holiday;  a 12- year-old single malt Scotch Whisky specially selected for Royal Collection Trust Shop at the The Palace of Holyroodhouse in Scotland and an Amber Ale is naturally produced locally using organic laureate spring barley harvested at Sandringham.
  • Finally, Queen Elizabeth has even released her own brand of condiments, including tomato ketchup and brown sauce (which is like a steak sauce). The products are made at the Sandringham estate in Norfolk using ingredients from the grounds.
